Job Summary
MDERS is seeking a motivated intern interested in public safety to join our team. Interns will gain hands-on experience by working with the MDERS operational support team, participating in exercises and training, and performing day-to-day tasks. This internship offers a unique opportunity to shadow key stakeholders across law enforcement, fire/EMS, public health, hospitals, and emergency management sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Shadowing and Mentorship: Engage in hands-on learning by actively participating in training sessions, exercise planning, facilitation, and daily operations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key MDERS stakeholders, including law enforcement, fire/EMS, and public health departments, to gain a comprehensive understanding of public safety operations.
Tailored Experience: Be paired with an MDERS operational support team member based on your specific interests to enhance your learning experience.
Requirements
Education: Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a field related to public safety or emergency management. Residency in Maryland is required.
Skills:
The intern must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, interest in public safety and emergency preparedness, and be self-motivated and capable of working independently.
